Maybe not all of us but the vast majority of women (and men), at least in America, have grown up with Disney. And we’re guessng that the rest of the world has too since globalization took hold and Disney exported themselves worldwide. A bunch of us at BrideFu are serious fans of Disney and are quite excited about their recent new expansion into weddings. Disney has had their Disney Weddings package available at Disney World in Orlando, Florida for quite a while now. As I’m sure anyone would guess, it’s quite a fantastic package, very dreamy and fairytale-like, of course. (Just go and request their DVD info packet and you’ll see.) So it’s no wonder that the next logical step is finally here, after providing the ceremony, rehearsal dinner, and reception location at Disney World for about 2,000 weddings annually, with Cinderella’s coach as limo, awesome caterers and even Disney characters.

Disney's Princesses - The Inspiration for the New Disney Bridal Gown Line What was Disney’s motive for this new, upcoming expansion? To provide a bit of Disney for all brides and grooms everywhere! Especially for the brides and grooms who, with bridal party and guests in tow, may no be able to trek to Orlando, Florida for their fairytale wedding. So let a piece of Disney come to you!

Disney is launching a line of wedding gowns inspired by their top princesses: Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine and Ariel. This made-to-order line is set to fully launch in June 2007 in North American bridal boutiques, eventually branching out to Europe and Japan as well. Teamed with coutoure bridal designer Kirstie Kelly, Disney’s Princess wedding gown line will feature 34 designs for their first season and will cost about $1,100 - $3,000 (midmarket). Kelly stayed away from creating replicas of the gowns worn in the movies, ensuring less of the bright colors of the Disney Princess collection for young girls; instead she focused on the persona and aura of each princess including each one’s personality and used subtler color palettes and intricate details to truly express those regal royalty qualities of each Disney Princess.

The full designs are expected to be revealed at the April 2007 Bridal Week in New York. Check back with BrideFu for photos of these royalty-inspired gowns! Disney's Princesses - The Inspiration for the New Disney Bridal Gown Line

What’s next in store at the Disney Wedding factory? Well, no rumors of prince costumes…yet. However, a costume jewelry line consisting of pieces similar to those from Disney Princesses will be offered with the gowns in June 2007. The pieces will range from $45-295 each. Bridesmaids and flower-girl dresses are coming in October 2007. Shoes? That will be next year. And finally, celebrity wedding planner David Tutera is set to work with Disney Weddings to create a wedding package that starts at $75,000 for 50 guests. We’ll keep you posted on what else the Disney factory is going to pump out!
