You know those sayings: “Home is where the heart is”, “What you look for is usually at the tip of your nose”. Well those sayings certainly hold true for the world’s tallest man, Bao Xishun! After searching the world over for his bride, right in front of him, from the same hometown, his bride just showed up. On February 24, 2006, Bao met Xia Shujian and they fell in love at first sight. Beautiful story, isn’t it?

This is the first marriage for both bride and groom, held on March 28, 2007 in their hometown of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia. At the height of 7 foot 9 inches (2.36 meters), the couple may look somewhat oddly paired since Xia is only 5 foot 6 inches (1.68 meters) but love knows no boundaries, right? Also, 29-year-old Xia is half the age of the 56-year-old Bao. More little tidbits: Xia is a sales clerk at the local shopping mall in Chifeng while Bao is a livestock herdsman but also does publicity stunts around the world.

A little information on the world’s tallest man:

• Born in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, Bao is the naturally-grown tallest man
• Bao was supposedly too tall to find a marriage partner (not anymore apparently!)
• Was in the People’s Republic Army
• His growth spurt began in his teens for seven years, still unexplained by doctors
• The rooms in his house have 5.7 meter clearances and his bed is about 2.6 meters long
