It may be hard to imagine but there was a time when working out and eating right were just short-lived trends, fads with little to no longevity. Well, clearly times have changed! Not only are fitness and healthy eating good for you, apparently it’s also the popular thing to do. Even in weddings! You would be hard pressed to find a bride who isn’t sticking to a diet or hasn’t scheduled a regular fitness regimen into her pre-wedding plans. Bridal Fitness - To Bootcamp We Go!

With everyone focused on the same “red carpet moment” goal, gyms are gearing up and providing the necessary programs and offerings to cater to each bride individually.

Essentially, a bride’s wedding day is her version of the OSCARS! And we all know how dolled up celebrities get for those awards. For anyone who does watch those awards, we also know what the gown trends are going towards: curve-hugging, revealing, and uber-sexy. What does that translate into for brides and their wedding gowns: eat right, work out and tone up everywhere to be able to show off your whole body! But don’t forget! Not only will working out make you LOOK good, it will ultimately make you FEEL good! To really succeed with eating right and working out for your wedding, you have to remember that feeling good is 50% of the payoff!

Bridal Fitness - To Bootcamp We Go! In New York City, the trendsetting capital of the world, gyms are coming out with various bride/bridal programs geared specifically for women who have a deadline to meet, the wedding day. Some are called “Brides in Training”, “Bridal Bootcamp” and “Knockout Brides”, offered at NY Health & Racquet Club. This club also offers bridal fitness planners, somewhat similar to wedding planners.

With a bridal fitness checklist like wedding planners, these personal trainers whip brides into shape by being very involved and interactive. They have to see your gown to know what kind of exercises to give you, what kinds of foods to and not to eat. Regular meetings with your trainer just to sit and talk about progress is always helpful to better fine-tune your workout schedule and exercises.

Another gym in New York City that is starting to offer these bridal fitness programs is Physique 57, focusing on a dancer’s workout combined with guidance on healthy diets and makeup tips. For five weeks at a time, the trainers at Physique 57 guide and motivate brides in their quest to be fit for the wedding and can, as an option, also hold workout sessions for the entire bridal party to get into tip-top shape. While working out on your own is a great way to get in shape, it’s always recommended to seek some guidance from professionals such as personal trainers from reputable gyms who can provide you with broader knowledge on what specific exercises and diets would work best for you. Since every person is different, broad workouts and diets are sometimes less than effective since they may work for one person but can totally fail for another. Specialized workouts and diets are the best ways to get to your ideal wedding figure!
